The Ironman World Championship Hawaii is the race that defined our sport as it came of age, and continues to be the defining race in our sport for any avid triathlete.

To get to the starting line in Kona, you must either be very lucky and get yourself a spot through the lottery, or very talented, and win yourself a qualifying spot at one of the qualifying events held around the world.

Swim Course: 2.4 miles

Ironman Hawaii swim course follows a single loop pattern starting 100m from the beach. Pros will start 15 min before the amateurs. Following a clockwise direction athletes will swim 1.2 miles to the turn around Sail boat. Kailua Bay is home to this beautiful swim course and offers crystal clear waters with great visibility, which is way this is the only race that you will find under water camera men filming you. Bike Course: 112 miles

The Ironman Hawaii bike course is a 1 loop course, heading up the west coast of the big island to Hawi. Starting at T1 you will follow the town roads towards the Queen K, a non-technical course perfect for aerobars. Comprised of mainly rolling hills the only elevation you need to be concerned with is the 12 mile climb towards Hawi, which is also the turn around point. The ironman hawaii bike course is well paved and clearly marked. Besides the lava fields the course is known for its legendary winds, hence why disc wheels are not used.
