Desiree Ficker prevailed against the powerful winds, intense hills and strong competitors to become the Kona Ironman World Championship 2nd place finisher. Coming from a strong running background, Desiree picked up a cap and goggles for the first time in 1999 when she entered the world of multi-sport. Since then she has proven to be a dominant force in the grueling Ironman races.
